Finally writing my first history blog!
For my essay I want to write something regarding the Nuremberg Trials. I was going to write about how the Nazis tried to justify their actions (which I still might do), but lately I've been thinking more about writing about the impact on the rest of the world, and how it sort of inspired the Universal Declaration for Human Rights. So a possible essay question could be "To what extent did the Nuremberg Trials influence the Universal Declaration for Human Rights?", but of course that's still just a very rough idea.
Hopefully I'll be able to do some more research on this over the weekend, and I'll visit the Barr Smith Library soon.

  1. It is nice to see you on your Blog, it has been a long wait. The question that you pose is very complex. Is there a connection between the two? When looking at the defence at Nuremberg, it consisted of two question:Is the person entitled to command? Is the command legal? The answer that was offered each time in defence was yes. Hitler was elected by the German people legally and his powers were legal under the laws of Nazi Germany. It was convenient that Hitler was dead, of course. What the prosecution demanded was a third question: Was the command moral? It is this questiomn that makes it more interesting, especially when later applied to the prosecuting countries, eg USA. The My Lai Massacre in the Vietnam War or the use of torture in Algiers. Maybe this can open up some comparisons for you. The question you offer is a vague and you need to be more advanced at this stage. What Option is it from?
